The New Jerusalem Universal Church was founded in 1982 by Reverend Haskel Swain
as a non-profit organization dedicated to spreading the Gospel of
Jesus Christ throughout the United States, North America and the
rest of the world.
Its stated purpose was to facilitate this vision by completing a
two-fold mission:

Provide Licenses and Certificates
to Ordain Ministers
Many ministers are unable to preach the Gospel and complete
typical ministerial functions because they did not belong to any
recognized denominational organization. These ministers were, in
effect, prevented from being recognized by federal, state and
local civil authorities as duly qualified and ordained ministers
of the Gospel and therefore not permitted to conduct certain
marriage ceremonies, funerals, baptisms, and etc. They may also
have been limited in performing ministry in hospitals or other
care facilities. To become a licensed NJUC minister, a candidate
must meet the rigid qualifications established by Reverend Swain
in the initial program implementation.

Provide a Revival Referral Service
Many ministers feel a tremendous calling to preach the Gospel,
but do not have the church contacts to schedule meetings or
revivals. Likewise, many independent churches desperately want
to experience revival, but do not have access to a network of
preachers who are willing to come for a meeting or revival. NJUC
seeks to provide a referral service to link these two groups. A
church seeking a speaker can contact NJUC to find a speaker who
is willing to come to preach. Likewise, a minister seeking a
speaking engagement can contact NJUC to find a church in which
to speak. NJUC only recommends churches and ministers that meet
the rigid qualification established by Reverend Swain during the
initial program implementation. Churches can be assured that
they will receive a Spirit-filled individual who is truly called
of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
